Welcome To The New Leaf Project!

New Leaf's Homepage

The New Leaf Project was originally thought up by Larry shortly after he was presented with a Milestone award for his charitable activities in Prince William County and for entrepreneurial efforts in areas of Community Service. He began to think of bigger and bolder ways of reaching out to the comunity, and thus the New Leaf Project was born. The Project is designed specifically for the homeless and needy in our community, and for providing them with help and support to get their life back on track. From free hair cuts to handmade hearty soups, and even Job Fairs, this project has been helping the homeless and the nearly homeless since December of 2008.

Under the New Leaf Project, the second Monday of every month is dedicated to giving out free haircuts to the homeless and the needy. We provide them with warm coffee, hearty soups, and a warm and welcoming environment. In the past, Panera Bread has also supplied us with several loaves of their specially made bread in an effort to show their support and help reach out.

On our very first New Leaf Monday, we did a total of 58 free haircuts. On any given New Leaf Monday, we will provide an average of 12 free haircuts, and since the Project started, we have given over 470 haircuts total! Larry and his stylists aren't the only ones catching New Leaf fever. At the very start of the Project, Larry invited the graduating class at the Heritage Institute to come out and give free haircuts beside him. They joined him for the next four New Leaf Mondays.

Also within the program's outreach, Larry, with the help of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, hosted 2 successful job fairs. The first Job fair consisted of 18 companies interested in hiring new employees, and it had a turnout of 120-130 eager job-hunters. The Lake Ridge Lions Club came out to the event and provided free eye and ear screenings to everyone who needed them, and Amicci's Pizza supplied hot, fresh pizza for every attendee during lunch hours.

We continue cutting for the homeless and the needy every second Monday of the month, so spread the word!
